But I’m going to argue that you really shouldn’t feel any animosity towards your conformity assessment provider if they’re providing you what you need. Further, if new product development is aligned with product certification, there is little chance you will be dissatisfied with your product certification requirements.

Posted by TUV Rheinland on Feb 27, 2017 7:00:00 PM

The U.S. Toy Standard ASTM F963-16 was recently updated after a five-year review and revision. This is a significant revision to the ASTM F963-11, bringing a closer alignment with other international standards including ISO 8124 and EN 71. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has 90 days to review and approve the new standard. ASTM has formally notified the CPSC on 1 November 2016 that the revision to ASTM F963-16 was published. The estimated timing for the standard to become the mandatory is April 29, 2017. Download the Quick Guide to Updates: U.S. Toy Standard - ASTM F963-16.

TÜV Rheinland: Christmas Tree Stands with Cable Technology Are Safe

Posted by TUV Rheinland on Dec 19, 2016 10:44:55 AM

A Christmas tree is part of the festive season in almost all households. In order to decorate it, the tree must stand stably. There are various stand systems on the market for bringing the tree into a vertical position – and keeping it there.

One very popular system, because it is particularly user-friendly and safe, is cable technology. “This fastens the tree inside a wire cable with clamps, for example using a foot pedal,” explains Wilhelm Sonntag, a product testing expert at TÜV Rheinland. A tree that is fastened in this way does not tip over as easily if children thoughtlessly pull on its branches, for example. Another practical feature: A water container with an integrated water level indicator shows whether the tree needs to be watered.
